Bullas commemorates World Alzheimer's Day (21/09/2018)

September 21 is the day chosen by the World Health Organization to commemorate World Alzheimer's Day, the most common form of dementia.

For this reason, today, the surroundings of the Plaza de Abastos has hosted a commemorative act chaired by the Councilor for Social Services, Chari Martinez, and in which the users of the Cognitive Stimulation and Day Center that manage the associations have participated. of the Alzhad and Amade municipality, respectively, and the home help company LorcaMur and Teleasistencia as well as the Commonwealth of Social Services.

Martinez in the manifesto has been proud to see how throughout these years the associations have developed a great work for our elders.

"Proof of this is the creation of the Municipal Table for the Elderly, from which countless proposals and activities start," he said.

As for the day that is being celebrated, he stressed that "the objective of this day is to raise awareness of the disease, disseminate information about it and raise awareness in society in general."

After the manifesto, the spokespersons of the different associations have also joined to read their writings paying tribute to the many people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and, remembering, of course, the important role of caregivers in their dealings with the patient.

Next, all the users have taken a helium balloon and at the count of three they have released decorating the sunny sky.

An emotional and beautiful act that ended with great applause.

Although this activity was carried out this morning, yesterday a forum for caregivers was held, organized by the Alzhad Association, where there was a talk about the importance of emotions in dementia, by the psychologist Laura Caballero and the educator Aurora Martín

On the other hand, at the municipal station, once a month, you can listen to the program dedicated to the elderly "La Voz del Mayor" that the Amade Association has been commissioned to develop.

An idea emerged from the Table of Seniors.

Also, the library is added with books dedicated to this disease.

Finally, in the hall of the City Hall will be exposed the "Tree of Memories", an artistic installation formed by a sculpture of a tree with sheets of paper on which are written important memories of older people.
