Recently, the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, and the Councilor for Agriculture, Juan Valera, held a meeting with the members of the Board of Directors of the Irrigation Community of La Rafa-Atalayas Well.
From the Community of Irrigators informed of the current situation and how they are complying with the guidelines set by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura.
In this sense, the President of this Community Soledad said that the Confederation has granted them less liters of water per hectare than other communities of irrigators in the Region, demanding that it be adjusted to a real equity "by right".
"Water prices are adjusted as much as possible so that the farmer is not economically punished more, mainly due to the low prices below the cost of producing the fruit that year after year makes it impossible to live off agriculture" explained the Councilman Juan Valera, who says that "the City of Bullas is fully available to this community to try to solve any problem that arises and remember that the CHS has been requested to be part of the General Meeting of Users to defend the interests of our farmers. "
For her part, the first mayor thanked them for all the effort and work in generating first quality products and praised the good management of scarce water resources, taking into account that no water comes from any transfer or from the desalination plants.
