Bullas commemorates November 25 (25/11/2019)

Today, November 25, the International Day against Gender Violence and the town of Bullas is commemorated in order to denounce the attacks that women continue to suffer throughout the world has been manifested this noon in the Plaza de España.

The Councilor for Equality, Carmen María Abellán, has read a manifesto in which she remembered the victims of sexist violence that are 52 so far this year, being the last one today, a 26-year-old woman murdered by her partner in Tenerife

"Nobody is in anyone's possession, much less to lay a hand on, to determine when your life has to end; they are killing us, and simply because they are women," said Councilwoman Abellán who said that " the fundamental basis we need to eradicate all kinds of violence is education, egalitarian, respectful and empathic education. "

The activities planned by the City of Bullas to demonstrate this problem began last Friday and, among them, highlighted the march that took place on Saturday morning that traveled the downtown streets to the Adolfo Suárez garden where another manifesto was read and He planted a tree in memory of all the victims, in addition purple ties were placed on the trunks of the garden trees with the name of each of the victims and their age.

"The day we do not have to celebrate will be when we have succeeded, meanwhile, long steps, sometimes they will be short if there is no other choice, but a constant struggle against this scourge," said the Councilor for Equality.

Until next Sunday, the program will continue to commemorate this day with special programs at the local radio station, theater by Matícate 'I am only a woman' on Friday at 9:00 p.m. (entrance fee 5 euros), self defense workshop for women on Saturday afternoon, and cinema at the Casa de Cultura on Sunday with the screening of 'Portrait of a woman on fire', among other activities.

From the City Council they thank all the sectors of the bullish society involved in the fight against this social scourge.
