The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante, accompanied by the mayor of Bullas, Maria Dolores Muñoz, recently visited the day center for elderly people in the municipality.
During his visit he recalled that the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) has 22 seats arranged in this center financed with 175,560 euros.
Day centers are geriatric care facilities where older people with some degree of physical or cognitive impairment (Alzheimer), sensory impairments, and mobility, receive specialized with preventive care and rehabilitation purposes.
They also receive individualized attention and follow-up and perform various activities, scheduled according to their needs.
Once incorporated into the day center a customized care plan, agreed by the multidisciplinary team with health, social equipment and the attended person and their family or caregivers is made.
The main mission is to provide technical and expert support in daytime, so they can develop more autonomous activities of daily life.
The counselor explained that "the care we provide in the center of Bullas enables these seniors continue living at home, with a focus on functional recovery, not forgetting tracking medical problems, nursing and social, acting as a bridge between the center and the community in which they live. "
The regional government is committed to caring for the elderly with the expansion of places, up to 15 percent, residential and day care centers.
In 2016 they have created 545 new jobs, representing a near 15 percent increase and total supply of 3,993 spaces between day centers and residences.
The expansion of residential places located in different parts of the Region, guaranteed to provide the specialized care they need the elderly in this new stage in their usual environment where they have developed their life close to their families.
