The ACT Project which involved the City of Bullas example conferences and forums on climate change (07/06/2012)

The municipality of Bullas is a pioneer in Spain to participate in a European project which aims to find and provide an answer to climate change locally, it is the ACT Project "Adaptation to Climate Change in Time" the LIFE + Programme in which City Council has been involved since 2010.

Yesterday, the conference room of the Wine Museum provided a venue to provide a first assessment of the study on the local impact of climate change.

An act framed within the activities of "Live your nature," organized by the Department of Environment for the month of June which marks the World Environment Day.

Inaugurated the conference-seminar the Director General of Environment, Amador Lopez and the mayor of Bullas, Peter Guy, who were accompanied on the table by Councilman European Union, Maria Antonia April and the external expert climate change specialist, Isabel Costa.

The Director General spoke of climate change as "something real is happening and that does not occur equally across the globe but has a special connotation in terms of the areas where we are."

Emphasizing the idea that "we who have to utilize the resources that nature offers us making more efficient use."

Meanwhile, Pedro Chico noted that this project will also get results with what you can work in the future to better adapt to climate change and set an example for similar studies, seeks to involve the whole society and raise awareness citizens of the importance of protecting our environment.

The charge of explaining the valuation, until now, the local impacts, Isabel Costa, said that "Bullas is cited at conferences and forums related to this issue" and that "have a great impact once the project results offer a definitive ".

As for valuation, Costa said that was studying the vulnerability of the sectors that would be most affected by climate change in the area such as agriculture, tourism, health and infrastructure, all related.

As the next step, working on the implementation of Local Adaptation Plan which will include those guidelines or recommendations for mitigating or adapting to climate change.

This plan must be approved at the time by the full City Council of Bullas.
