More than 250 irrigators Bullas Cup modernize its entire irrigable area to incorporate the purified water to crops (04/09/2012)

The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, opened today in Bullas whole sanitation infrastructure, debugging and improving irrigation modernization has enabled the entire irrigable area of ​​two irrigation communities Cup Bullas, Don House Pedro and Power Cup, and the addition of purified water to their crops.

The improvement plan, modernization and consolidation of irrigation has included the implementation of two major projects of sanitation and water treatment and irrigation modernization, which will allow to improve yields and optimize crop water of this area.

The President, accompanied by the mayor of Bullas, Pedro Chico, and the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, stressed the importance of these works, which account, he said, "rather than a financial investment, an investment that benefits social to more than 250 irrigators in the municipality of Murcia Northwest. "

The sanitation works have consisted, first, in the construction of a collector of 4.5 kilometers in length that addresses the needs of a population of 1,600 inhabitants, from the village of Arroyo Hurtado to Bullas purification.

This collector can incorporate water, once refined, the allocation for irrigation volumes.

On the other hand, the works have been executed transmission, storage and electronic distribution of water demand for irrigation.

This plan has benefited the entire irrigable area of ​​two irrigation communities, and Casa de Don Pedro Power Cup, of which they form part of total hectares, mainly for the cultivation of apricots, peaches, olives and grapes table, and about 250 farmers.

This irrigation plan in the first phase entailed the construction of a reservoir of 80,000 cubic meters capacity, providing proper regulation of water resources in both irrigation communities.

Finally, we ran a pipe to allow the use in irrigation of treated water to allow transport from the treatment plant to the reservoir regulation.

The whole water infrastructure represents an investment of more than two million euros, financed by European funds.

The two irrigation communities have benefited highly fragmented land holdings structure, where agricultural activity in the area is mainly a source of secondary income in the household economy.

This action is intended boost farming, farmers facilitating the work of watering and fertilizing, allowing them to make more efficient use of water and fertilizer and increase the profitability of agriculture avoiding land abandonment, the phenomena of soil erosion and desertification.

Visit Day Center Bullas

In his visit to the town, the chief executive met with Murcia persons attending the Day Centre, which provides services to elderly dependents.

The Autonomous Community through the IMAS, has an agreement with the City to fund a total of 14 places in this center.

Thus, the Government has invested in this day center over 500,000 euros for construction and equipment, and 176,000 in other places concert since it opened in 2011, to date.
