Yesterday, the users of the parcels of micro-gardens, of municipal ownership, received the first bags of compost for use in the cultivation of totally organic horticultural plants.
These sacks are the product of the composting of the remains of the prunings of the branches collected in different plots of the Protected Denomination of Origin Bullas, within the framework of the Life Sarmiento Project led by the companies Microgaia Biotech and EuroVértice, and in which the Cooperative participates Our Lady of the Rosary of Bullas.
The project consists of reducing the CO2 emissions to the atmosphere caused by the burning of vine shoots (about 2.3 tons per hectare), in addition to the consequent fire risks, while improving the quality of the soil by applying this compost.
Yesterday, the technicians of the companies Microgaia Biotech and EuroVértice, as well as the person in charge of this Project in the Cooperativa Nuestra Señora Virgen del Rosario, explained to the small farmers the benefits and the use of the organic fertilizer generated through composting. of the shoots, in order to observe their behavior in this type of plantations.
At the beginning of February, the technicians of the company held the first meeting with these organic farmers where all of them expressed their willingness to collaborate with this Project, in the same way that Bullas City Council did.
