The next weekend of June 15 to 17, the City of Bullas has organized different activities to commemorate 328 years since the constitution of the municipality as a village.

The Day of the Villa de Bullas will begin to be celebrated on Friday 15th, in the afternoon at 7pm, with the inauguration of the traveling exhibition 'Bullas, images of a century'.

In addition, the prizes of the competitions of photography on patrimony and of the II contest 'Bullas, in verse' will be delivered.

The institutional act is celebrated on Saturday at 20.30 with the special medal of the Villa awarded to Joaquín Sánchez, known as Joaquín 'el Cura'.

In addition, Bullas students will also be recognized who have achieved excellence in their academic records as well as other educational merits.

For Sunday, June 17, there is an open-air concert scheduled at 12.30 in the Plaza Vieja, by the Musical Association Villa de Bullas.

And in the afternoon, on the one hand, at 7:00 pm, the movie 'Bullas Siglo XII' by Luna Itaca Producciones will be screened with free admission until full capacity is reached at the Casa de Cultura and, on the other, at 20:00 there will be a historic route by Bullas (inscriptions in the Informajoven).

"We want for the first time to commemorate the constitution of the Villa de Bullas to recognize local people who do and have done a lot, in the case of Joaquín el Cura for his struggle in favor of the most disadvantaged in an indefatigable way" of Culture, Antonio José Espín, who adds that "this Day should be from now on an event to remember and commemorate our birth as a municipality."

The Day of the Villa wants to commemorate the birth of the municipality of Bullas at the end of the 17th century.

Although King Carlos II signed Privilegio de Villazgo for Bullas on December 19, 1689 (after the payment of 34,832 reales and 12 maravedíes), it was not until six months later, in June of 1690, when the segregation with respect to Cehegín was made effective.

Judge José de Berzosa arrived from Madrid on the 17th, announcing to the inhabitants of the town the great news of his independence.

It was then proceeded to the delimitation of the new municipal term, to the elaboration of the first register of the neighborhood and to the appointment of the first City Council.
