Unicef ​​grants Bullas the seal of "Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia", for contributing to improve the living conditions of children and adolescents in our municipality by promoting and implementing municipal policies that guarantee their integral development with a focus of rights.
In this sense, the recognition highlights the work of the City Council, in coordination with local entities and with children, to lead the ongoing process of implementing policies and measures that improve the welfare of children and adolescents in the municipality. .
The institution has distinguished 200 municipalities throughout Spain.
On this occasion, 114 local governments have been awarded for the first time, 80 have renewed their commitment to children and 25 projects have received recognition of good practices in Childhood and Municipal Policy.
With these recognitions, the network of Child Friendly Cities grows from 170 to 274 local governments throughout Spain, which means that more than 41 percent of children in Spain live in locations where they are "at the center of the agenda political and social ".
Among the award-winning towns in our region are: Bullas, Alcantarilla, Calasparra, Cartagena and San Pedro del Pinatar.
In these cities children have access to quality social services, live in a clean and safe environment, can enjoy their family life of play and leisure, are respected and treated fairly in their neighborhoods, and their needs are met. take into account the laws, policies and decisions that affect them.
The act of delivery took place in Oviedo at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses and in which the Councilor for Education and Culture, Antonio José Espín and the Mayor of Bullas, Mª Dolores Muñoz, were present.
Both have shown their joy and satisfaction affirming that "this is the culmination of a long process of preparation and a lot of work, which highlights our political commitment to childhood." Thus, we began a period of 4 years of activity, where we listened to the opinions of children in all the issues that affect them will be a priority issue, and we will continue working in this line so that our children and young people have more and more weight in the decisions of the municipal government ".
