The call for General Elections for April 28 has motivated the change of the San Marcos festival for the weekend of May 4 and 5 due to security reasons and, in this way, to guarantee the future of one of the most popular parties of the municipality.
In this sense the Councilman of Celebrations, Antonio José Espín, explained that "after speaking with all the agents involved in the Local Safety Board held yesterday, it was clear that the celebration of the Fiesta could not be guaranteed because there were not enough troops to cover the two events. "
Yesterday morning, a Local Security Board chaired the Councilor for Citizen Security, Alfonso Manuel Guirado, and attended by the Director General of Emergencies, the Sergeant of the Local Police, was held in the Plenary Hall of the City of Bullas. the Sergeant of the Civil Guard, two technicians from the Government Delegation, the Civil Protection Coordinator and a representative of the Fire Extinction Consortium.
All agreed that the celebration of San Marcos the same day of elections was unfeasible and discouraged that the party will be held that Sunday.
In the afternoon, after consulting with the spokespersons of the municipal political groups, all agreed to change the date of San Marcos, the Bullas Festival Commission was summoned urgently, and by a large majority decided to celebrate the celebration of the huertanos and huertanas on the weekend of May 4 and 5.
"This is a consensus decision with security bodies, with the members of the Commission and political parties and we all think that the best option is to move our most popular party to the following weekend," says the mayor of Festejos.
