The wine cellar of the Bullas Wine Museum has hosted this morning the act of awarding diplomas to the winners of the third edition of the wine pairing contest 'Vinarte' 2019, organized by the City of Bullas and the Bullas Wine Route Association.
The award ceremony was chaired by the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, the Councilor for Tourism, Águeda Fernández and the President of the Ruta del Vino Association, Toñi Fernández.
Between March 8 and 30, the members of the jury, who are Francisco José Navarro, member of the Region's Academy of Gastronomy, as President of the Jury, Pachi Larrosa, also a member of the Academy and gastronomic critic of La Truth, as Secretary, and, as vocals, the sommeliers of the Association of Sommeliers of the Region of Murcia José Sánchez and Salvador Zapata, attended the lunches and dinners of the eight restaurants and wineries matched for the Contest.
The jury has taken into account the quality of the dishes and wines, taken independently, as well as the harmony and coherence in the pairing.
Based on this assessment, the Vinarte 2019 Award for the best match with white wine has corresponded to Bodegas Balcona and Restaurante La Almzara for 'Smoked tuna with vine shoots' with Mabal Blanco Eco 2017. The Vinarte 2019 Award for the best wine pairings with rosé has been for Bodegas San Isidro and Restaurant Casino de Cehegín by Strains of the Pink Fox 2018 and the dish 'Potatoes to the rin with smoked cod'.
The Vinarte 2019 Award for the best wine pairing with red wine has corresponded to Bodega Monastrell and Restaurante Asador del Noroeste for Almudí Tempranillo 2017 with 'Taco de carne alta de grilled with tempura vegetables'.
As for the Award for the Best Pairing Menu as a whole, he left for Bodega Carreño and Restaurant Entretempos Café & Vino.
And as in previous editions, some of the wineries and restaurants have been distinguished with one or several 'M' of pairing.
"The growing illusion of work and involvement of chefs and winemakers, with great complicity, has shown the level of awareness that exists to defend the food and wine heritage of the region, combining respect for tradition and an intelligent use for innovation" Larrosa pointed on stage before the awards ceremony.
On the other hand, Bullas City Council and the Wine Route Association wanted to highlight how well it has worked 'Vinarte 2019' and activities such as concerts and dinners and food pairing that have hung the full every day of its celebration.
