On June 18, the Final Conference of the European Project LIFE SEC ADAPT was held in Ancona (Italy), a cooperation project whose main objective was to increase the capacity of climate resilience through the adhesion and active participation in the initiative. Mayors Adapt 'and the incorporation and integration of the climate objectives of the European Union into local policies and plans.
Throughout the life of the project, measures have been adopted and updated that strengthen the model of energetically sustainable communities as a best practice for the development of an adequate process of adaptation to climate change in local entities.
The Project lasted 40 months, ending on June 30, 2019, amounting to € 1,928,225, the contribution of the European Union.
For its execution, it has had a partnership composed of 23 partners, including twelve municipalities of the Italian Region of 'Marche', six municipalities and a Regional Development Agency of the Istrian Region in Croatia, the Municipal Planning and Development of Patras in Greece and the City of Bullas, through the Local Development Agency.
The role of Bullas has been to transmit the good practices developed in a previous project through which one of the first Local Adaptation Plans to Climate Change was carried out as well as contributing to the elaboration of an assessment of the socio-economic impact of climate change.
Specifically, thanks to this project, the City of Bullas has carried out the following actions: update and approval by the municipal council of a new Adaptation and Mitigation Plan for Climate Change;
update of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP);
Integration of the Adaptation and Mitigation Plan in the General Urban Plan of the municipality;
realization of energy studies for municipal buildings and the holding of events to increase public awareness of the need to adapt to climate change.
