The Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Bullas yesterday awarded 18 wines after the recount of the assessments made by the tasters during the blind tasting session that this year has been carried out at the Tourist Qualification Center of Murcia.
The awards ceremony was held at the Pepe Tomás Restaurant in Torreagüera (Murcia), and with it the event XIII DOP Bullas Show was closed, which in this edition the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin decided to move to Murcia on the occasion of the Capital of Gastronomy 2020.
With the assistance of winemakers, wine growers, specialists in the field of wine and authorities among which the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, the General Director of Agro-Food Industry, José Gómez, the General Director of Natural Environment, Fulgencio Perona, the Councilor for Pedanías and Barrios of the City of Murcia, Marco Antonio Fernández, the Pediatric Mayor of Torreagüera, Silvia Almarcha, the Mayor of Bullas, María Dolores Muñoz, the Mayor of Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno and the Mayor de Pliego, Antonio Huéscar, along with various regional and local authorities, were awarded the prizes as a final touch to two days of intense activity in the city of Murcia.
During the event, the President to the Regulatory Council, Francisco Carreño, valued the effort that is being carried out in the dissemination of the wines of the Bullas Denomination of Origin and the enormous possibilities that open up in our territory by promoting a speech Well built around the wine.
Then, the results of the quality contest of 2020 were made public. This year the professionals invited to participate in the Jury of Tasting of the DOP Bullas Wine Quality Contest valued the quality of the samples presented, in particular 59 wines distributed in the different categories.

As a novelty, in this edition, the GRAN ORO prize for the best rated wine in the contest was incorporated into the Bases that regulate the Contest, being the best wine participant according to its score the LAVIA PLUS 2015 of Bodegas Lavia.
Finally, the DOP Bullas Regulatory Council delivered three very special awards.
One, to the Pepe Tomás Restaurant for its contribution in the promotion of these wines through its wine list, two, to the winegrower Pedro Sánchez Pujante in recognition of his work and effort in the care and preservation of the vineyard and, finally, to the Photographic Association of Bullas for its dissemination of the landscape and wine heritage of the DO Bullas through its photographs.
More than two hundred people in the presentation of the Sample
On the other hand, more than two hundred people attended the celebration of the XIII Bullas PDO Exhibition in the Artillery Barracks of Murcia on Monday afternoon.
There, the Wine Master and Anthropologist, Juan Pedro García, offered a Conference on the History of the Bullas Wines and, next, the new wines of the wineries of the Denomination were presented: Bodegas del Rosario, Bodega San Isidro, Bodega Balcona , Carrascalejo Winery, Fernando Carreño Peñalver Winery, Tercia de Ulea Winery, Lavia Winery, Monastrell Winery, Hydria Wineries, LLano and Monter Wineries, Contreras Wineries, La del Terreno Winery and Tarbal Food Winery.
