The Mayor of Bullas, María Dolores Muñoz, accompanied by the Councilor for Celebrations and Health, Paqui Fernández, and by the Councilor for Culture, Alfonso Sánchez, announced yesterday that the Bullas Patron Saint Festival is suspended. Both the Wine Festivals and the Festivities in honor of the Virgen del Rosario that are held between September and October are suspended by Covid-19. "It is not pleasant to announce that we will not have patron saint festivities, it is something that other neighboring municipalities that have had them have done before and it is our turn now," said the Mayor.
Avoiding putting the health of the public at risk and avoiding possible outbreaks, in addition to those that may currently occur, is the fundamental reason for the cancellation of the parties. The first Edil insisted that "it is time for individual responsibility." "We as a Government Team have thanked the people of Bullas for their exemplary confinement and after it, but now more than ever individual responsibility is essential to prevent the spread of the virus that is still there." In this "new normal", there will be no parties as such, however, the Councilor for Celebrations showed the intention on the part of the Consistory that, on those days, activities can be scheduled that comply with all security guarantees.
"We will try that we all have a few moments of disconnection and celebration in the framework in which we find ourselves then" explained Paqui Fernández. For his part, the Councilor for Culture Alfonso Sánchez reported that "the possibility of adapting the Theater Show in Autumn to new circumstances and that the public can enjoy the much appreciated theater in Bullas is being studied." In addition, he thanked the neighbors who have opted this summer for cultural activities such as concerts, cinema, historical routes, all of them very well received.
