The Department of Public Bullas Security, through the Local Police, has joined the campaign of the Provincial Traffic Authority of Murcia on "Awareness for improving the safety of pedestrians on the road" that will take place on 4, 5 and 6 May.
This information campaign is motivated by the increase in pedestrian accidents in the first quarter of 2016, at the regional level, accounting for 13.89% of all accidents with casualties occurred in the region and, particularly, its consequences because in the period between 1 January and 15 April, SIX pedestrians have died (the same number of deaths that throughout 2015), 60 injury accidents and 56 injuries of varying degrees.
Three fatal accidents have occurred on intercity roads and three in urban roads.
The main objective of the campaign is to avoid collisions with pedestrians walking on intercity roads and crossings, and also to all who use urban roads, for this, the agents of the local police inform the following:
• Inform pedestrians to get your mobility is performed safely on cruises and streets.
• The Provincial Traffic Headquarters, through the Coordinating Driver Education, will give talks aimed at pedestrians, that day will take place on Friday, May 6 in the Hall of City Hall at 11:00 h.
• The Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Murcia will present to the City of Bullas reflective backpacks, for them to be delivered to pedestrians who travel for journeys without the use of reflective clothing.
Also in Bullas, overlapping with the above described campaign, there will be another on "Awareness of mobile phone use on driving" this will last all week, from today until May 8.
Distractions while driving are the main cause of accidents in Spain and use of messaging applications is widespread, tripling the risk of an accident.
It is estimated that 15% of Spanish drivers using a "smartphone" behind the wheel and is expected to write a message of "WhatsApp" driving while the driver averts his eyes off the road an average of 4.6 seconds, so that using your mobile phone at the wheel quadruples the risk of an accident, according to the DGT, reminiscent to drive manually using mobile phone devices, browsers or any other communication system or other devices that reduce the mandatory permanent attention to driving are considered serious offenses and are punishable by a fine of 200 euros and the loss of 3 points driving license.
