The Department of Public Safety, through the Local Police, has adhered to the Special Campaign of the General Direction of Traffic (DGT) on "Control of the Rate of Alcohol and Presence of Drugs in Drivers" to be carried out between On 12 and 18 December.
Alcohol is present as a concurrent or triggering factor in one third of fatal accidents.
Their presence in driving depending on their rate, multiplies between 2 and 15 the risk of an accident.
The only safe rate is 0.0%.
Not only is it related to a higher accident rate, but it also has a higher mortality rate, as it is a factor linked to a worse prognosis in the injuries suffered, according to the DGT.
Also, driving after the use of psychoactive substances is a frequent occurrence in Spain.
Apart from alcohol, almost 11% of drivers drive after having consumed some substance (drugs of abuse) that can affect the ability for safe driving.
Cannabis (THC) and cocaine are the two most frequently encountered substances.
For this reason, Bullas Local Police will carry out preventive checks at different points in the population during the days indicated in order to try to reduce the percentage of positive tests.
