The Council of Government has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, the declaration as a Cultural Interest (BIC) of the archaeological complex of four marble statues-source from the Roman town of Los Cantos de Bullas .
The value of this sculptural ensemble for its declaration as BIC is based on that they have a remarkable archaeological, stylistic, functional and chronological coherence.
The four were part of the same ornamental program of the domestic area of the town of Los Cantos, forming a unique and indivisible archaeological ensemble.
Likewise, the sculptural complex of the town is an excellent example of the provincial plastic of the Roman period in the Region and has an extraordinary value for archaeological research as they are a testimony to the way of life.
In September 2016, agents of the Civil Guard of Murcia recovered three statues dating from the second century AD within the framework of Operation 'Kairos', within the Plan for the Defense of Spanish Historical Heritage.
To these is added a fourth known as 'Child of the grapes', interpretable as an autumn kairos, currently in an unknown whereabouts.
All of them were found at the beginning of the 20th century, between 1905 and 1909, during excavations of the parson Juan Bautista Molina, which allowed to discover various structures and rooms of which at least three were paved with mosaics.
The four sculptures, the three erotes and the kairos, were located in a small part of the village, located to the north-east of the peristyle, in an area currently still awaiting archaeological excavation.
The statement as BIC has favorable reports from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Santa Maria de la Arrixaca and the University of Murcia.
