The Community invests two million this year in the improvement of road safety of the regional road network
The Ministry of the Presidency and Development begins today the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of the RM-B18 highway (Bullas-La Copa), which connects with the center of the municipality of Bullas and the Northwest highway (RM-15 ), improving the road safety of the vehicles that go towards Murcia and access from the towns of Cehegín and Caravaca de la Cruz.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, highlighted in this act the relevance of the action, "which will improve the traffic conditions of the more than 630,000 journeys that the road has annually" and noted that the average annual traffic of heavy vehicles rises to more than 20,000.
"The Community will suppress a conflict point for traffic that currently involves the intersection of this road with Sixth Street in December, where traffic problems are recorded due to lack of visibility due to the proximity of a curve to it", explained Yolanda Muñoz
The intersection will be solved thanks to the construction of a roundabout, which will lengthen the central island, in the form of a tear, and which will connect the central island with the north deflecting island.
The outer radius of the roundabout is 34.60 meters and has a rail of 7.30 meters wide and outer shoulders and interiors of one meter.
In this roundabout, five different roads converge: Carretera de La Copa, Calle Seis de Diciembre, the Bullas access ramp from the Northwest motorway (Bullas centro exit), the RM-B18 highway, and the incorporation branch to the Northwest motorway towards Murcia.
Another of the improvements of the action will be to provide better lighting roundabout, for which it has been planned the placement of eight light points that will be formed by different columns of 8 meters high and LEDS luminaires.
It also includes the construction of sidewalks in the access from the highway of the Northwest and the replacement of the networks of sanitation, potable water and public lighting.
The action, which will improve access to Bullas from the Northwest motorway, improving the exit of the highway from vehicles from Caravaca de la Cruz, has a regional investment of 189,000 euros and a deadline of six months.
Security improvements
The general secretary recalled that the budgets for 2018 include a specific item of two million euros for the improvement of road safety of the road network of the Region of Murcia, including this work in Bullas and six more in Albudeite , Alcantarilla, Murcia and San Javier.
"This investment in road safety will improve traffic in more than 12,000,000 trips," said Yolanda Muñoz.
