The Councillor for Culture, Francisca Caballero, presented yesterday to mark the events held in commemoration of World Book Day the exhibition of paintings by students of Jose Manuel Peñalver.
Before, presented the prizes to the winners by the Hiperbreves Story Competition with the theme "Women", organized by the Department of Equality, and students in grades 5 and 6 elementary schools in the different municipality who won Bookmark Competition 2012.
First, Maria de la O Guillen and Antonio Castillo, collected first and second prize respectively of Story Competition, and second, did the same the winning Bookmark Contest, first prize for Lola Collados, second prize to Irene Garcia and third prize to Raquel Hernandez.
Francisca Caballero stressed that the activities held at the Book Day is to "inculcate the reading habit," adding that "it is wonderful to read in our local library and we can find good and varied books."
As for the painting exhibition collective, exhibited at the exhibition hall of the House of Culture until 27 May, the City Council said they have been nine artists who have participated: Maria Cruz Fernandez, Tomasa Ortega, Pepe Sanchez and Paqui Martinez de Bullas, Loli Martínez Torres and Sefi Caravaca de la Cruz, Lucia Jimenez and Maria Angeles Cehegín Lojano and Pilar Zeno of Murcia.
World Book Day ended with a recital of poetry by reading poems by Julio San Francisco, exiled from Cuba who died recently, and also a poet, Gloria Fuertes, sung by Mercy also played for her poems, and music Isbell atmosphere of the live event.
Finally, today, culminating with the storyteller acts in the Municipal Library with reading children's book "Columbine" aimed at children from 3 to 6 years old.
