The new Wastewater Treatment Plant Bullas ensure optimum water quality for irrigation (19/02/2015)

The Mayor, Pedro Chico, together with the President of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Alberto Garre, and the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Cerdá, today have placed the first stone of the new Wastewater Treatment Plant Bullas.

The wastewater treatment plant in which Community invest more than four million euros, financed by 80 percent by the Cohesion Fund of the EU, will have a treatment capacity of 6,500 cubic meters of water a day and will benefit the irrigators town with a system that will ensure optimal water quality for irrigation.

President Garre, said that this new infrastructure "will have a strong tertiary treatment system that will ensure optimal water quality for irrigation".

Bullas Township currently has about 12,000 inhabitants, so "making predictions, this new plant will treat everything for debugging long without making new facilities," he said.

Meanwhile, the first mayor stressed the importance of this hydraulic work, since part of the water treated by this new treatment may be undertaken by the Community Irrigation Watchtowers The Rafa-Pozo, as well as other communities Osamenta, Tovar and Cañada Olmo, totaling 40 hectares, present and participate in the laying of the first stone.

This work is included in the General Plan of cleansing and purifying of the Region of Murcia, which began in 2001 and has involved the planning and coordination of the actions of sanitation and treatment throughout the whole region, with building infrastructure in 45 municipalities in the region, providing the reused water of a higher than required by Community legislation quality.
