From the Department of Health of the City of Bullas report that the Plan to prevent the effects of temperatures have begun to be implemented from June 1, and will remain active until next September 15 and, if necessary, up to a month Additional.
It aims to prevent and reduce the negative effects heat can have on the health of citizens, especially those at risk or vulnerable, like the elderly, children and chronically ill, as well as people who work or are making efforts to fresh air.
So, in turn considering the threshold of maximum and minimum temperatures for the 2015 campaign it is at 34oC and 23 oC, respectively, to minimize the damage that citizens can suffer, then the Department, through the plan promoted by the Ministry of Health, recalls a series of health recommendations:
General preventive measures in situations of excessive high temperatures:
Drink water or fluids frequently, but do not feel thirsty and regardless of physical activity undertaken.
Although anyone can suffer a heat-related problem, pay special attention to infants and young children, the elderly and people with diseases that may be aggravated by heat and dehydration, such as heart diseases.
Stay as long as possible in cool, shaded or air-conditioned, and refresh yourself whenever you need it.
Try to reduce physical activity and avoid outdoor sports in the hottest hours (from 12.00 to 17.00).
Wear light, loose clothing and stop sweating.
Never leave anyone in a parked and locked (especially children, the elderly or chronically ill) vehicle.
Consult your doctor before symptoms that last longer than an hour and can be related to the high temperatures.
Keep your medicine in a cool place;
heat can alter its composition and its effects.
Make snacks that help replenish lost sweat (salads, fruits, vegetables, juices, etc.) salts.
Do not abuse drinks with caffeine, alcohol or large amounts of sugar, as they can make you lose more body fluid.
Measures of protection against adverse effects of sun exposure:
Avoid sun exposure in the middle of the day (from 12-17 hours).
Decrease body parts exposed to direct sunlight.
Thin clothing, tightly woven and long pants will block much of the sunlight.
It should encourage the use of t-shirts instead of blouses with straps and sleeveless.
Cover their heads with hats or caps.
Use approved sunglasses that filter out at least 90% of ultraviolet radiation (UV).
Use sunscreen products with a high and age-appropriate factor, skin type and body area.
These protectors should be applied in generous amounts, 30 minutes before sun exposure and renew every two hours.
One must be careful in statements on and in the water, because the radiation can penetrate up to one meter in clear water.
If medication is taken, ensure that it does not increase skin sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation.
Do not forget that the risk of sunburn increases with height (every 300 meters, increased by 4% the power of ultraviolet radiation).
