The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today introduced the Designation of Origin II Bullas Show to be held on 25 and 26 February at the Wine Museum in this town, with which will enhance the quality of the wines under under this sign of quality.
The owner of Agriculture, accompanied by the mayor of Bullas, Esteban Egea, and President of the Council of the Designation of Origin Bullas, Jose Sanchez, said the recognition and the work of winemakers, grape growers and producers who encouraged "ascribed to the regulator to increase the marketing of wines of the region. Murcia counselor recalled that "Bullas is a young growing area that has conquered the world's major markets."
He said "the wines of this area have adapted their offerings to a diverse and competitive market," adding that "in recent years have been incorporating new technologies in the preparation and production processes."
Murcia responsible said "Bullas wines are among the elite of the market" and recalled that this growing area registered in the Control Board reaches 2,500 hectares with an annual production of 16 million liters of wine and a census of over 650 growers.

The Second Exhibition DO Bullas hosts many activities held for two days as both Cehegín Bullas, as tastings of different wines, visit places of interest in wine and Quality II Wine Competition, which will award three prizes for each of the categories of white, pink and red, next Thursday, February 26.
The program of events also includes the conference 'Monastrel the World and the Influence of Climate Change', which will be taught by the Master of Wine, Norrel Robertson.
Monastrell Zone
The wines produced under DO Bullas include the towns of Bullas, Cehegín, Mula and Ricote and, in part, the towns of Calasparra, Caravaca, Lorca, Moratalla and Pliego, with a total of 14 wineries bottling.
80 percent of production covered under this name is from the Monastrell variety, which is adapted to environmental conditions and offers interesting features fruit wines.
Other varieties include Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Grenache for the reds and pinks, Airen and Macabeo and for whites.
United States, Holland, Canada, Germany and United Kingdom are the main destinations of wines produced in this area, which covers around 36 percent of production.
